Denise Scott and Sarah Neely Named Team Leaders of December
BSAC would like to congratulate Denise Scott and Sarah Neely for being recognized as the December Team Leaders of the Month! Both women go above and beyond at BSAC by expanding their roles and working in numerous departments. Team leaders are chosen based off nominations from colleagues who appreciate their hard work.
Denise Scott first began her BSAC journey by volunteering as a sign language interpreter when her brother joined TRIDENT. Now Denise is a TRIDENT instructor, teaching students essential life skills like social cues and personal hygiene. She recently put in extra hours and effort to prepare TRIDENT students for their 7th Annual Talent Show, Broadway or Bust. The show was a big success not only to the students, but also to family, friends, and community partners. She also works in the after-school program leading Robotics Club and picking students up from school sites.
“This position has taught me patience and the importance of going with the flow,” said Denise. “Sometimes things change that are out of your control, but that change could actually turn out to be something really good.”
While all team members must be Red Cross CPR Certified, Denise said it was one of her most memorable experiences at BSAC! The course prepared her for emergency situations which included seizures, something more prevalent among the students she works with.
“At the end of the day, I just hope I’m putting smiles on other people’s faces,” said Denise. “I want to be a positive person that helps others have a good time.”
Denise also enjoys working on her modeling career, going to the beach, and baking. She encourages others to apply at BSAC due to her positive experiences with team members who help out and understand.
Sarah Neely was a loyal member of the BSAC Blue Wave Swim Team for 12 years. She had a couple different coaches throughout her experience and felt they each contributed to her success in a unique way. Sarah earned a swimming scholarship at Indian River State College, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Criminology. She returned to BSAC after college and now makes an impact as a Lifeguard Supervisor, Swim Lesson Coordinator, and After-School Mentor.
“I love working with kids mostly because they’re fun and it’s always something new and exciting,” said Sarah. “It’s fun seeing the progression students make in swimming lessons from Level 1 to swim team.”
Sarah attributes her future aspirations of becoming a police officer to her time spent at BSAC helping others. Whether she’s helping kids stay safe in the pool or helping after-school students complete their homework, Sarah loves making a difference in the lives around her. She spends that extra time getting to know each child, always there to listen and offer encouragement.
“I’ve spent most of my life at BSAC, ever since I started swimming in third grade,” said Sarah. “It would be hard for me to leave, this is a part of my life.”
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys hanging out with her friends and watching movies. At home, you can find her relaxing and playing with her family’s pets.
On behalf of everyone at BSAC, we would like to congratulate Denise Scott and Sarah Neely on being chosen as December’s Team Leaders of the Month. We appreciate your hard work and impact in the lives of others.
