Decorating Cookies at Fishhawk Creek

Using frosting and fruit roll-ups, students created fun and edible cookie art inspired by Henri Matisse. Before they began, the students read Henri Scissors by Jeanette Winter in order to learn about Matisse. They learned that the artist’s most famous pieces were created after illness confined him to a wheelchair. The student’s cut fruit roll-ups with scissors into Matisse-like shapes to add to their frosted cookies. The students enjoyed the process of creating their cookie art. But enjoyed eating their art even more.
