Arts & Crafts Impressionist Art by Monet at Stowers Elementary

Before crafting their very own colorful works of art with their friends the students learned about the famous art movement called impressionism which was prevalent in the 19th century. This included learning interesting facts about Claude Monet, the man who coined the impressionist term. The students focused on Monet’s most famous and easily recognizable painting series titled Water Lilies. Then with the help of their friends, the children glued pink, green, purple and multiple blue shades of tissue paper onto watercolor paper to create their own impressionist art piece. The students had fun with their friends learning about Monet and his ability to express himself through art just like they were doing.
