High 5 Lifeguard
The Lifeguard will help support and maintain safety throughout the aquatics area. Lifeguards will assist in the maintenance of the filtration systems to keep all the water in the pools at High 5 chemically balanced. A lifeguard should know and be able to execute the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), build relationships with customers and continually maintain and be an example of High 5’s mission and core values under the philosophy of High 5’s standards and expectations. The Lifeguard staff will assist with light maintenance of the aquatic area including the concession area from the building door to the grass area behind the dive dry land area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide excellent service to all students, families, and co-workers
- Create and maintain a welcoming, caring and professional environment for all
- Meet the physical, emotional and educational needs of the children in their care
- Work in a team environment, build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships
- Communicate positively and effectively with the Swim Instructors and Aquatics Director
- Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally
- Knowledge of EAP and role
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions
- Be on time and prepared for duties
- Assist in setting up and taking down equipment
- Continue to maintain safety in the pool
- Staff at off-site locations if needed
- Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the facility and equipment on the deck
- Following all of the opening and closing procedures
- Maintain equipment in good working order while repairing any broken equipment
- Follow procedures on lightning and thunder, fecal matter in pool
- Notifying Appropriate coaches on time line of pool closure due to weather
- Wiping down fencing and awnings and power washing of the decks
- Removal of trash and help in moving of equipment.
- Cleaning and maintaining order and organization of the bathroom facilities.
- Removal of lane lines in and out of the pool as required by programming
- Checking the chemicals in the pools every 3 hours
- Maintaining organization in the lifeguard room
- Organizing and maintaining inventory of the first aid supplies
- Vacuuming and brushing the pools
- Hosing and sweeping the decks
- Cleaning the gutters and skimming the top of the pool
- Complete additional duties as assigned by their supervisor
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check
- Satisfactory Drug Screening
- First Aid, CPR and AED certified, can be provided by High 5
- Current Lifeguard certification
- Lifeguard Instructor training a plus
